Eatwell ex­pan­sion boosts job num­bers

A $962,000 ex­pan­sion of Mallee re­gional health food man­u­fac­turer Aus­tralian Eatwell will cre­ate 10 new jobs.

Par­lia­men­tary Sec­re­tary for Re­gional Vic­to­ria Danielle Green toured the Don­ald com­pany on Fri­day, an­nounc­ing $231,000 for the project from the Fu­ture In­dus­tries Man­u­fac­tur­ing Pro­gram.

“As a result of our Fu­ture In­dus­tries Man­u­fac­tur­ing Pro­gram, Aus­tralian Eatwell’s pro­duc­tion in Don­ald will dou­ble, creating 10 new jobs for lo­cals in the process,” Ms Green said.

The ex­pan­sion will also in­clude in­stalling a new tofu pro­duc­tion line and tran­si­tion­ing six work­ers to higher-skilled roles.

From veg­gie burg­ers to soy cheese, Aus­tralian Eatwell has carved out a mar­ket for its veg­e­tar­ian and ve­gan food, sup­ply­ing lead­ing in­de­pen­dent and Aus­tralian re­tail­ers such as Coles.

The busi­ness has con­tin­ued to ex­pand in re­cent years, ac­quir­ing lead­ing health food brand Simply Bet­ter Foods in 2009, and launch­ing the world’s first chickpea tofu in Oc­to­ber 2016.
