Ice-skating opportunity

-

A slice of Stawell’s Main Street will be transformed into a winter wonderland during the school holidays.

Northern Grampians Shire Mayor Tony Driscoll said a full-scale ice-skating rink set up on vacant land next to Stawell Town Hall would be a perfect cure for holiday boredom.

The council and Stawell Regional Health are behind the project.

Cr Driscoll said the ice-skating rink would provide a welcome boost for Main Street business owners.

“This is expected to provide an influx of not only Stawell residents visiting the CBD, but should also attract a number of out out-of-town visitors to Stawell, not only to use the skating rink, but also to explore all that’s on offer in Stawell,” he said.

“This event lines up well with the huge range of events on offer in Stawell across the Easter period, and adds another dimension to what’s on offer in Northern Grampians Shire during that time.”

The ice-skating rink will be open to people of all ages.

Sessions will operate on the hour from 10am to 4pm, and the rink will be open between 7am and 8pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

People can visit the rink 15 minutes ahead of time, call 0421 788 605 or email manager@wintermagiciceskating.com.au to make a booking.
