Wine and savouries for Stawell hospi­tal

Prepa­ra­tions are well un­der­way for an an­nual Stawell Hospi­tal Aux­il­iary Wine and Savoury Evening, at Stawell En­ter­tain­ment Cen­tre on April 13.

The event, start­ing at 6.30pm, is a cel­e­bra­tion of food and wine as well as a fundraiser for Stawell Re­gional Health. It cul­mi­nates with an auc­tion of wine from dis­trict winer­ies.

Aux­il­iary public­ity of­fi­cer Ruth Hat­ton said the evening was al­ways pop­u­lar and a great way for peo­ple to catch up with friends while at the same time rais­ing money for a wor­thy cause.

The aux­il­iary has re­cently bought the flow­ing equip­ment for Stawell hospi­tal: Uroflow me­ter, used by urol­o­gists in the­atre, $6000; fridge-freezer, for sur­gi­cal use in the­atre, $600; doppler ul­tra­sound for po­di­a­try, for di­a­betes and leg­wound assess­ment, $2200.

“The aux­il­iary was able to pur­chase these items from money raised at our Gar­den Day last Novem­ber,” Ms Hat­ton said.

“A huge thank-you to all the peo­ple who opened their won­der­ful gar­dens, as­sist­ing us in raise so much money to pur­chase much-needed equip­ment. We hope the pub­lic will sup­port our Wine and Savoury Evening to en­able us to con­tinue con­tribut­ing to the hospi­tal in this man­ner.”
