New age of hearing technology has arrived

-

If you have a hearing loss and you have been keeping up with news on the latest and most advanced hearing aids, you have no doubt heard of the Oticon OPNTM.

The response to these revolutionary hearing aids has been phenomenal.

People are reporting a very natural sound quality and hearing in group situations is superior to any other devices they have used before. This is all thanks to the all-new Velox platform which runs the Oticon OPNTM, allowing processing speeds 50 times faster than the outgoing technology.

Oticon Opn™ has been hailed a success by both consumers and audiologists in the results of two separate surveys published in January. Now there is even more good news!

The Oticon OPNTM family has expanded and now includes three levels of technology at three different price points. Meaning that those who could not afford, or did not require the full high specification level of the originally released Oticon Opn1, can still benefit from the sound quality and overall clarity of the all new Velox chip, which drives the technology. This is now also available in the Opn2 and Opn3 which sit at lower price points.

“We have been pleasantly surprised by the overwhelmingly positive response to the Oticon Opn1. It has truly lived up to all the hype. With the introduction of Opn2 and Opn3 we are able to offer the improved sound quality and processing to an increasing number of hearing impaired individuals” Mr Ben Wood, Senior Audiologist Hearclear Audiology

Oticon OPNTM has become a new benchmark in hearing aid technology, it is the first device in decades to move away from the traditional directional microphone as a way of suppressing unwanted background noise. Instead the OPNTM is able to scan the environment 360° over 100 times per second, then attenuate individual unwanted noise sources and balance sounds. This creates an “open” sound experience for users and overcomes the “tunnelling” side effect associated with traditional directional microphone beam technology.

“We’ve had the opportunity to trial the technology with a number of hearing impaired people, some who have worn hearing aids previously and also with first time hearing aid users. People are commenting on the sound quality of the hearing aids and their ability to communicate in all environments,” senior audiologist, Ben Wood said.
