Steps to men­tal health re­cov­ery

Wim­mera peo­ple strug­gling with de­pres­sion can learn keys to re­cov­ery dur­ing a three-ses­sion pro­gram in Hor­sham.

Del­huntie Youth Care’s Bren­dan Scale, who has more than 25 years’ ex­pe­ri­ence as a coun­sel­lor help­ing peo­ple im­prove their lives, will run the pro­gram.

“Par­tic­i­pants will learn proven prac­ti­cal tips and strate­gies to im­prove their mood and re­gain their life, in a safe and sup­port­ive en­vi­ron­ment,” Mr Scale said.

“We’re run­ning the pro­gram in re­sponse to the huge is­sue of men­tal health and de­pres­sion, which af­fects peo­ple from all walks of life.”

Mr Scale said peo­ple did not have to be di­ag­nosed with de­pres­sion to par­tic­i­pate.

“A lot of peo­ple go un­di­ag­nosed. This is a com­mu­nity health pro­gram and any­one who is feel­ing down and would like some help can be part of it.”

Mr Scale will lead the pro­gram on three Tues­days – April 24, May 8 and May 22 – from 7pm to 8pm.

He will de­liver the ses­sions in Hor­sham Sev­enth Day Ad­ven­tist Church’s sem­i­nar room in Wil­son Street, Hor­sham.
