Halls Gap up for discussion

-

Halls Gap residents and visitors have an opportunity to participate in a plan to transform Halls Gap into a worldclass tourism hotspot.

Council’s Halls Gap Action Plan is now on public display at Halls Gap Community Hub, along with information on key projects and ideas to take advantage of projected growth within the town’s village centre following the opening of the Grampians Peaks Trail in 2019.

The action plan includes introducing pedestrian crossings, resolving car parking and improving access to key parcels of land.

The plan will help Northern Grampians Shire Council leaders decide where to invest money in the village centre to help transform the town to a major tourist destination. The peaks trail is set to further expand the region’s already-booming tourism.

The council is calling for community feedback to help capitalise on the projected influx of visitors.

Council’s economic growth manager Justine Kingan will work out of the hub for the rest of the month to help people who want to learn more about the project.

People can also use a text hotline – 0459 022 255 – to provide feedback to the council or use the council’s new online community consultation portal, www.ngshire.vic.gov.au/ Engaging.

Northern Grampians Shire southward councillor Jason Hosemans said community feedback was vital to the plan’s success and implementation.
