Swimmers shine

Wimmera swimmers impressed at School Sport Victoria State Swimming Championships in Melbourne.

Warracknabeal Secondary College’s Lily Eldridge won the women’s 15year 50-metre breaststroke and finished third in her 50-metre backstroke final.

Horsham Holy Trinity Lutheran College’s Luca Geue won the boys 12-13 50-metre freestyle and claimed runner-up honours in his 50-metre butterfly final.

Billie Donnan, Ararat West Primary School, Ivana Donnan, Ararat Marian College, Kiara Jones, Nhill College, Eloise Wills and Montanna Connelly, Horsham St Brigid’s College and Erin Kearns, Horsham Special School, also qualified for finals.

Almost 600 student athletes competed in primary or secondary school championships at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.
