Sun protection across region
The State Government has stepped up efforts to offer more sun protection for people across the Wimmera, providing money for more sunshades and trees in community areas and at sports clubs.
Minister and Labor Member for Western Victoria Jaala Pulford said 24 organisations across the region were among 323 across Victoria to share in $2-million from a third round of the Community Shade Grant Program.
Recipients include: Donald Lawn Tennis Club, $2500; Donald Public Cemetery Trust, $2245; Goodwin Village, Donald, $1006; Horsham Agricultural Society, $6500; Horsham Panthers Rugby League Club, $2200; Horsham Presbyterian Church, $4000; Jeparit Anglers Club, $8700; Kaniva Hockey Club, $21,552; Minyip Recreation Reserve, $20,000; Murtoa Swimming Pool, $19,110; Nhill Agricultural and Pastoral Society, $5000; Serviceton Golf Club, $16,643; St Arnaud Neighbourhood House, $11,586; St Arnaud Pony Club, $1696; Stawell Golf Club, $35,000; Stawell Tennis Club, $3404; Stuart Mill Rural Fire Brigade, $2658; Sunnyside Horsham Sporting Club, $15,000; Victorian Field and Game Donald Branch, $4033; Warracknabeal Bowling Club, $18,340; Willaura Modern Inc, $2291; Wimmera Hockey Association, $4893; Wurega Aboriginal Corporation, $20,000 and Yarrilinks, $5515.
