Free plants this Mother’s Day
Members of Stawell and district community can celebrate their mums this Mother’s Day with a free plant as part of a Stawell Trees for Mum event.
The event, part of a national series of Trees for Mum projects, will be at Stawell’s North Park between 9am and 10.30am on Sunday, May 13.
Stawell Urban Landcare spokeswoman Veronica Monaghan said the group was again partnering with a Mother’s Day Classic promotion based on success during the past two years.
“Native plants grown at Greenfingers Nursery in Stawell will be given away free for people to plant in their own gardens,” she said.
“Trees for Mum is a series of Australiawide tree-planting events run by Landcare on Mother’s Day. The project was first started in Sydney in 2002 by friends and colleagues, Deena Raphael and Lauren Adlam, as a way of paying tribute to their mums, whom they had lost to cancer.”
The Trees for Mum event is open to anyone keen to plant a tree as a tribute to mothers who have died or to celebrate those who are still alive.
