Retail tips welcomed

-

More than 40 Northern Grampians businesses have taken an opportunity to work alongside one of Australia’s leading retail consultants to future-proof their business amid a rapidly changing retail landscape.

As part of the council’s Revitalise! Project, business representatives from both Stawell and St Arnaud spent time working alongside The Retail Doctor Group chief executive Brian Walker.

One of Australia’s most sought-after retail consultants, Walker has worked alongside some of the nation’s most recognised brands, as well as several local government organisations.

The sessions, also attended by the council’s economic development staff, were designed to help retail operators stay up to speed with shifts across the sector.

“As we keep saying – our aim is to assist our businesses to remain viable in today’s market and ensure they are staying ahead of the curve when it comes to retail in regional areas, such as ours,” Cr Driscoll said.

“The response from our retail community has been outstanding. It’s really positive to see so many of our business operators invested not only in the future of their own businesses, but our region as a whole.”

Alongside the three face-to-face sessions, Mr Walker will also complete a full retail analysis of both Stawell and St Arnaud, which council leaders will use to help identify gaps in the current retail market, along with how best to translate projected growth within the tourism sector into increased retail activity.

People can call the council’s economic development unit on 5358 8700 for more information.
