Accolades for Jannik

Horsham wheelchair basketballer Jannik Blair has claimed runner-up honours in the 2018 Euroliga 1 grand final in Bilbao, Spain.

Euroliga 1, previously the Andre Vergauwen Cup, is one of the most prestigious continental wheelchair basketball competitions.

Blair’s Spanish Bidaideak Bilbao BSR team went head to head with some of the best teams from across the continent.

Bilbao won all three group games plus a final against Uk-based The Owls to qualify for the grand final against Turkey’s Galatasaray SK.

Galatasaray won by two points, 7371, in a thriller to claim back-to-back victories.

Blair relocated to Bilbao, an industrial port city in northern Spain, in September last year to compete in the Spanish Wheelchair Basketball League.

The Spanish league runs mid-october to the end of May. from
