Oscar wins state title riding Chatswood Tango
Stawell Pony Club’s Oscar Cole has taken out first place at Horseland Horse Trials State Championships in Gladysdale at the weekend.
Oscar’s mother Viv Cole said he was happy with his win.
“He wasn’t in the lead from the start, so he was a bit surprised when he got up to win,” she said.
“He was very excited. It doesn’t get much better than winning states.
“Oscar won grade two, section one riding Chatswood Tango. To enter that event you have to qualify by going to three other horse trials during the season.
“He competed in dressage, show jumping and cross-country and placed first overall.”
Mrs Cole said Oscar’s sister Olivia also performed well and placed eighth in section two, grade two, riding Zuri Louwana.
Ararat’s Riley Perry-parmenter, who competes with Maryborough Pony Club, placed third in a grade one pony club section, riding Playing the Field.
The Cole twins are currently training to compete in Werribee in September and Ballarat in October. They will continue to compete regularly in order to qualify for 2019 trials.
