Test your items at fire safety day

-

Ever wondered if that old toaster, iron, kettle, hair-dryer or other suspect electrical device you have had for years is still safe to use?

Now is the time to find out, with Horsham Fire Brigade offering a testing service as part of an Electrical and Home Fire Safety Day on May 27.

Faulty products can cause house fires and the brigade has invited people to bring along small electrical items to the Sunday event, between 10am and 2pm at Horsham Fire Station, to have them ‘tested and tagged’ by a qualified electrician. Gold coin donations will cover the tagging cost.

As part of the safety day, the brigade will also have demonstrations on how to safely use a extinguisher.

Members have also planned a variety of children’s activities including firehose and ‘learning to escape a house fire’ games and face-painting.

There will also be a raffle for a fire extinguisher, fire blanket and smoke detector. fire blanket and fire
