Coffee, cake for volunteers

-

Hindmarsh Shire Council will provide coffee and cake vouchers for the municipality’s volunteers this week.

Mayor Ron Ismay said the vouchers were a token of appreciation to volunteers and would encourage a moment of ‘time out’ at one of the region’s participating businesses.

“The vouchers are a small gesture to acknowledge the willingness of volunteers who provide time, energy and expertise to the many community projects and programs offered throughout the shire,” he said.

The vouchers coincide with National Volunteer Week and are redeemable until June 11.

National Volunteer Week is designed to thank volunteers and publicly acknowledge their work and essential role in our society.

“As the need for volunteering grows, council needs to acknowledge and recognise the contributions volunteers make to Hindmarsh and the broader communities,” Cr Ismay said.

“There are many clubs and organisations that would struggle to survive without the contribution of volunteers.”

The vouchers are available at Hindmarsh Shire customer service centres or people can call 5391 4444 to arrange them to be sent via mail.

Vouchers are redeemable at Wimmera Bakery, Dimboola; Jeparit IGA; Amber’s Sweet Bliss, Olivers Diner, Olivia Rose Café, and Wimmera Bakery, Nhill; and Bow Bakery and Rainbow 50s Café, Rainbow.
