Black Tie Ball at Harrow

Harrow Bush Nursing Centre’s biennial Black Tie Ball is on again, on June 9.

The Black Tie Ball, which started in 2012, is a gala money-raising event for Harrow’s primary health-care service.

It has become a popular event at Harrow Hall on the long weekend in June.

The night is renowned for its fun, dancing and auctions, and as an opportunity for people to catch up with old friends.

It is also developing a growing interest from Melburnians keen to experience a country ball.

Harrow Bush Nursing Centre manager Ann Vaughan said the event was important, raising vital money for the service.

“We are pleased to have about 200 people attending,” she said.

“The money raised this year will be directed specifically towards the refurbishment of clinical space and equipment. And we have a whole lot of fun at the same time.”

Mrs Vaughan said entertainment this year was renowned Adelaide band The Rockdoctors, who would provide live music to suit everyone.

“The Rockdoctors are an experienced group of musicians, some of whom are doctors and physicians in their spare time,” she said.

“They are looking forward to coming to the tiny town of Harrow to support this charity event.”

The ball starts at 6.30pm and includes an auction of donated items.

“We have been very fortunate to have been donated some amazing items to auction, including a luxury Sydney experience complete with an exclusive helicopter ride over the city donated by the Beluga Foundation,” Mrs Vaughan said.

“This item has been gathering some interest so we are allowing outside bids this year. Anyone interested can call the centre for more information.”

Other changes to this year’s ball include bring your own drinks only and substantial canapés instead of a traditional meal.

The Harrow Hermitage Hotel will serve evening meals from 5pm.

Mrs Vaughan said patrons should also make use of free bus services to and from the event from Hamilton, Balmoral and Edenhope.

Tickets are $80 with bookings essential at Harrow Bush Nursing Centre by calling 5588 2000.

People can also choose to attend the event from 9.30pm, and can buy $25 tickets at the door on the night.
