Run the Gap on Sunday

-

Halls Gap’s Run the Gap event is set to be bigger than ever this year as organisers gear up for the seventh annual event on Sunday.

Run the Gap co-organiser Monique Cummings said she was pleased with increasing registration numbers.

“I’m very positive that it’s going to be a great event, tickets sales are up on last year,” she said.

Ms Cummings said Run the Gap was a successful event for Halls Gap, with proceeds going towards building a walking and bike path and an outside fitness centre.

“We are hoping to complete the section of walking and bike path between Tymna Drive and the corner of the Bellfield dam wall,” she said.

“Hopefully next year we can look at extending it in the other direction towards Pomonal.”

Run the Gap participants can choose from four events, a six-kilometre walk, six or 12-kilometre runs and a 21-kilometre trail run.

A mini Run the Gap for youngsters and breakfast are part of the event.

Ms Cummings said she was excited about the addition of a film screening this year.

“There will be a film screening between 5pm and 7pm on Saturday night at Halls Gap Centenary Hall,” she said.

“It is a trail running film to get people in the right frame of mind to get up early and run the next day.”

Ms Cumming said the organising committee planned to extend the track further to include other events in the future.
