Patch Adams returns to best at Casterton

-

Terry and Karina O’sullivan of Stawell have ended a frustrating couple of months, with a win in the 2000-metre Casterton Cup with the fickle Patch Adams.

Ridden by Horsham jockey Christine Puls, the Dane Shadow gelding was a rank outsider at $26 for the $30,000 feature.

Patch Adams was afforded a great ride by Puls, settling down slightly worse than midfield on the rails. The five-year-old continued to travel well and found clear galloping room when balanced, and began to let down with a strong run.

Patch Adams attacked the line to score a nar- row but gutsy win. It was the first time Patch Adams had saluted the judge since the Colac Cup in February 2017.

Patch Adams has now earned $264,850 and also has four wins to his credit.

Yendall treble at Mildura

Horsham jockey Dean Yendall continues to regularly churn over the winners and last Monday at Mildura proved to be no exception.

Yendall teamed with the Darren Weir stable to boot home a winning treble.

Firstly, Yendall was aboard three-year-old filly Escaday in a 1400-metre maiden plate.

The daughter of Doomsaday broke her maiden at her 12th start, scoring impressively by more than two lengths. Yendall quickly made it a race-to-race double courtesy of Amerissia, in a benchmark-58 2000-metre event.

The American filly showed some good staying ability, getting the nod on the line.

Yendall was forced to wait until the final event to complete his winning day, when aboard Misty Sea. The Sebring gelding scored his second win at Mildura in as many starts, when contesting a benchmark-58 event over 1300 metres. Misty Sea was successful by a half length.
