Flowers raise thousands for cancer centre

Dedicated Wimmera flower growers have presented $2143 to Rachael’s Wish fundraising campaign for the Wimmera Cancer Centre.

Volunteer flower growers worked together to grow and bunch the chrysanthemums to sell for Mother’s Day at Horsham Plaza.

Gardeners Yvonne Dunn and Enid King hosted an afternoon tea to present a cheque to Wimmera Health Care Group communication manager Amelia Crafter.

Mrs Crafter said this was one of her favourite fundraisers.

“Five dollars is an attainable price and it’s a great present and goes towards a great cause,” she said.

In accepting the cheque, Mrs Crafter commended the gardeners on the successful fundraising event.

“It’s your special way to fundraise, you grow the flowers, put them into bunches and you sell the flowers,” she said.
