Travel grants for sports clubs

Several Wimmera sporting organisati­ons have been given a boost to take their skills to the next level.

Member for Western Victoria Jaala Pulford announced six Wimmera clubs would share in more than $290,000 from the latest round of the State Government’s 2017-18 Athlete Pathway Travel Grant Program.

This round will provide support to 206 recipients including: • Wimmera Axemens Associatio­n, $750 to assist a team member with travel to an under-21 Woodchoppi­ng Teams Relay Competitio­n in Sydney. • Horsham Amateur Swimming Club, $750, to assist with travel to Ironman World Championsh­ips. • Horsham Calistheni­cs College, $1500 to assist coaches with travel to competitio­ns across Victoria. • Wimmera AFL, $750 to assist with umpire travel to state training. • Stawell Amateur Athletics Club, $1500 to assist team members Sally Pymer and Susan Ellis to travel to competitio­ns in South Africa. • Warracknab­eal Rifle Club, $750 to assist members travel to other competitio­ns.
