Call out for Stawell arts fes­ti­val per­form­ers

Stawell Per­form­ing Arts Com­pany has put out a call for singers and per­form­ers to get in­volved in its Stawell Per­form­ing Arts Fest.

The week­end of per­for­mance op­por­tu­ni­ties, con­certs and work­shops for Stawell and district res­i­dents will take cen­tre stage in Septem­ber.

The three-day fes­ti­val in­cludes a va­ri­ety of mu­si­cal styles such as rock, pop and mu­si­cal threatre.

Reg­is­tra­tions and au­di­tions are now open for peo­ple to join in per­for­mances, from Fri­day, Septem­ber 7 to Sun­day, Septem­ber 9.

Day one will fea­ture Rock the Band, a con­cert of mod­ern rock and pop.

SPACI’S Dianne Ste­wart said any­one who had ever wanted their singing, gui­tar, drums or even trum­pet, tam­bourine or pi­ano ac­cor­dion backed by a band could join the show.

Mu­si­cal Theatre Favourites is a one show only con­cert of some of the most loved and best known songs from the stage.

Singers are in­vited to at­tend an in­for­ma­tion evening on Tues­day to learn more about the show­case.

A singing work­shop with Polly Christie has also been sched­uled.

Polly is an ac­com­plished singer, com­poser and con­duc­tor who will work with singers to learn new songs for a fes­ti­val per­for­mance.

Any­one who en­joys singing is en­cour­aged to par­tic­i­pate.

Work­shop tick­ets are on sale now through www.trybook­ and in­clude free en­try to the evening con­cert.

The fi­nal day will also fea­ture a ‘Singing Groups and Choirs’ con­cert fol­low­ing on from the day’s work­shop.

Singing groups are in­vited to per­form along with work­shop singers. Groups that would like to per­form in the Sun­day con­cert should reg­is­ter to con­firm their place on the line-up as soon as pos­si­ble.
