Sur­vey shows team hit­ting the mark

Ra­dio lis­ten­ers across the Wim­mera, Mallee and Grampians are con­tin­u­ing to tune in strongly to MIXX FM and 3WM with an in­de­pen­dent sur­vey re­veal­ing MIXX FM as the pri­mary sta­tion of choice.

But the sur­vey has also shown a pow­er­ful resur­gence in 3WM lis­ten­ers, es­pe­cially peo­ple keen to tune into talk­back ra­dio and re­gional foot­ball cov­er­age as well a clas­sic song play list.

The Xtra Re­search Aus­tralia find­ings are based on the first of­fi­cial ra­dio sur­vey of the re­gion in four years. Re­search oc­curred un­der the guid­ance of Com­mer­cial Ra­dio Aus­tralia.

Ra­dio sta­tions 3WM and MIXX FM gen­eral man­ager Bren­dan O’lough­lin was de­lighted by the strong re­sults for both sta­tions.

He said what was par­tic­u­larly pleas­ing was that re­gional prod­ucts cre­ated by ‘pas­sion­ate and lo­cal peo­ple’ had led to such a strong sur­vey performanc­e across the re­gion.

“It’s a fan­tas­tic re­sult and a great credit to our team. It’s not only great news for us, but also great news for our clients and lis­ten­ers. It is val­i­da­tion that what we do is hit­ting the mark,” he said.

“The sur­vey re­sults clearly in­di­cate that ACE Ra­dio Broad­cast­ers is pro­vid­ing some of the high­est qual­ity com­mer­cial ra­dio in the lis­ten­ing area.

“These re­sults well and truly re­in­force the re­la­tion­ship we have with our lis­ten­ers and clients. The data tells us that we are pro­vid­ing what peo­ple want.”

Hor­sham sta­tion con­tent di­rec­tor Emma El­som said the re­sults were grat­i­fy­ing.

“It’s great to see we are still the lead­ers in the re­gion and all the hard work and long hours my crew put in are pay­ing off,” she said.

“We take enor­mous pride in what we put to air and these sur­vey fig­ures make me ex­tremely proud of my team.”

Thirty-two per­cent of peo­ple sur­veyed aged 10 and above listed in the sur­vey showed that MIXX FM was the sta­tion they lis­tened to most.

Its AM sta­ble­mate 3WM fol­lowed closely on 27.8 and ABC Western Vic­to­ria had 19.3.

The sur­vey also re­vealed that MIXX FM led the com­pet­i­tive morn­ing or ‘break­fast’ times­lot head­lined by Matt Lip­i­arski and Jenny Rose, with lis­ten­ers aged 10 and over.

It showed 31.1 per­cent of peo­ple sur­veyed in the age group listed MIXX FM as the sta­tion they lis­tened to most.

3WM’S Morn­ing Rush with Jon Ver­ti­gan and Kate Meade closely fol­lowed on 27.9 per­cent and ABC Western Vic­to­ria was next with 19.0.

3WM’S Neil Mitchell pro­gram con­tin­ued to dom­i­nate re­gional morn­ing ra­dio for peo­ple aged 10 and over, with 34.4 per­cent of lis­ten­ers. This fig­ure climbed with peo­ple 40 and over to 41.3 per­cent.

The sur­vey also col­lected data on the week­end habits of ra­dio lis­ten­ers and re­sults showed a strong swing to 3WM for its Lo­cal Foot­ball Live cov­er­age of Wim­mera and Hor­sham Dis­trict foot­ball matches.
