Legacy movie night

A com­mu­nity movie night at Hor­sham Cen­tre Cine­mas on Septem­ber 20 will raise money for Wim­mera Legacy.

The event will fea­ture a pre­sen­ta­tion of new Aus­tralian re­lease ‘Ladies in Black’.

The movie, star­ring Rachael Tay­lor, Noni Hazel­hurst and Shane Ja­cob­son, is set in Sydney in the sum­mer of 1959, against the back­drop of Aus­tralia’s cul­tural awak­en­ing, break­down of class struc­tures and lib­er­a­tion of women.

It tells the com­ing-of-age story of sub­ur­ban school­girl Lisa, who while wait­ing for her fi­nal high school exam re­sults with dreams of go­ing to the Univer­sity of Sydney, takes a sum­mer job at a large de­part­ment store.

Here she works side-by­side with a group of sales­women who open her eyes to a world beyond her shel­tered ex­is­tence and fos­ter her meta­mor­pho­sis.

Tick­ets are $30 and en­ter­tain­ment starts with drinks and nib­bles from 7pm at Legacy House.

Wim­mera Legacy has 47 vol­un­teer Lega­tees who look after the wel­fare and needs of more than 200 wi­d­ows and their fam­i­lies in the Wim­mera.
