Details sought for honour boards

-

A hunt is on for descendants and-or relatives of people with names on two honour boards in Dooen Public Hall.

Hall secretary Kola Kennedy said the boards were being restored by University of Melbourne conservators through a Restoring Community War Memorials and Avenues of Honour grant program.

The two boards highlight the names of Dooen servicemen who fought in the First World War.

Mrs Kennedy said a ‘re-hanging’ of the boards would occur on November 10 in prepa- ration for a 100-year anniversary of Armistice Day on November 11.

“We’re endeavouring to reach out to any descendants or relatives with a view to inviting them to attend the ceremony,” she said.

“It is hoped that the service records of servicemen killed can be obtained or viewed to establish their full names, rank, service unit, date of death and if possible, where they are buried.”

Mrs Kennedy said people with information could call her on 5384 7274.
