State funding for Cooinda

-

State Government funding will aim to help Stawell children of all abilities find learning and playing easier while at kindergarten.

Labor Member for Western Victoria Jaala Pulford said Stawell’s Cooinda Kindergarten would receive $147,200 from the latest round of an Inclusive Kindergartens Facilities Program.

The program helps kindergartens become more accessible and inclusive for children of all abilities by upgrading their buildings or playgrounds or buying items such as adjustable desks and chairs, moveable wheelchair ramps and soft padding for outdoor areas.

Ms Pulford said Cooinda Kindergarten would use its funding to create a sensory garden and playground.

“We’re improving kindergarten infrastructure in places like Stawell so that kids of all abilities can make the most out of their time at kinder,” she said.

“Cooinda Kindergarten has put forward exciting plans that will also include an outdoor covered area overlooking the front garden. I think the kids will love it.”

The program will benefit 42 kindergartens across Victoria.
