Open tees off

-

Tasmanian and 2018 Victorian Open champion Simon Hawkes shows off the technique that clinched him an inaugural Western Open at Horsham Golf Club. Hawkes won the title after shooting nine under the card and hanging on from Victorian professional Peter Wilson and amateur Adam Tsiami. More than 100 players, caddies and spectators gathered at the course for the event, the first pro-am of its kind that involved a combined Pro-am Series event with Golf Victoria’s Ivo Whitton and Susie Tolhurst amateur series. Hawkes had a one-shot overnight lead from Tsiami and Queensland’s Chris Wood and in a neck-and-neck finish won by a shot with a birdie on the final hole. Picture: DONNA O’CONNOR
