Barbecue to support Stawell pair

-

The Wimmera’s Filipino community has come together to raise money for one of their own.

Wimmera Filipino Australian Club president Marivic Vix said a large crowd attended a barbecue at Horsham’s Weir Park to help Stawell couple Noel Clarke and Myrna Liberato.

Ms Liberato was diagnosed with bone cancer after moving to Australia from the Philippines in July.

She and Mr Clarke have been together for two years and are planning to get married.

Mrs Vix said the couple reached out to the Wimmera Filipino Australian Club to help cover treatment costs.

“We have done other fundraisers to help out people in the Filipino community – we try to help when we can,” she said.

“We would like to extend our most sincere gratitude to all who came and helped us during our fundraising picnic for Myrna.

This event would not have been successful if not for you all, so thank you so much for your kind heart and generosity.” The barbecue raised $1088. “This amount will all be donated towards Myrna’s cost of medication,” Mrs Vix said.

“Once again, thank you so much. God is so good.”
