New captains at Marian
Ararat Marian College students Ned Parsons and Alanna Mcfarlane have secured college captain roles for 2019.
Ned started year seven at Marian College in 2014, coming from St Mary’s Primary School.
He said his goal as a captain was to make everyone feel welcome.
“2019 is the year of hospitality and I wish that, not only me, but everyone welcomes all,” he said.
“Marian College is well known to accept all, especially the most vulnerable, which is amazing and it is the direction I want to head towards for the upcoming year.”
Alanna also started year seven at the college in 2014 after spending her primary school years at Ararat West.
Alanna’s goals for her time as school captain include encouraging students to become more involved with the academic side of school and to accept more opportunities that Marian College presents them with.
“I would also like to spread more awareness about mental health in the school community,” she said.
