Na­tional award for re­gion’s wa­ter boss

GWmwa­ter man­ag­ing di­rec­tor Mark Wil­liams has won na­tional recog­ni­tion dur­ing an awards cer­e­mony in Syd­ney.

Mr Wil­liams won a ma­jor cat­e­gory at The CEO Mag­a­zine’s pres­ti­gious 2018 Ex­ec­u­tive of the Year Awards.

He won an en­ergy and re­sources ex­ec­u­tive of the year cat­e­gory ahead of stiff com­pe­ti­tion from across the coun­try.

The award cel­e­brates the achieve­ments of com­pany ex­ec­u­tives and ac­knowl­edges the con­tri­bu­tions they have made to their com­pa­nies and in­dus­tries.

Gwmwa­ter board chair­man Peter Vo­gel said the award recog­nised Mr Wil­liams’ tire­less work to im­prove the eco­nomic pros­per­ity and en­vi­ron­men­tal health and well­be­ing of the re­gion.

“On be­half of the board I com­mend Mark for his ef­forts, which have been de­servedly recog­nised by re­ceiv­ing this im­por­tant award,” he said.

“Wa­ter is the lifeblood of our re­gion.

“Dur­ing his time at the helm of Gwmwa­ter, Mark has been in­stru­men­tal in achiev­ing wa­ter se­cu­rity and sus­tain­abil­ity for com­mu­ni­ties and busi­nesses across west­ern Vic­to­ria.

“This award recog­nises the in­no­va­tive ap­proach to ser­vice de­sign and de­liv­ery taken by the busi­ness since Mark’s ap­point­ment as man­ag­ing di­rec­tor in 2012, and the re­sults this has de­liv­ered to cus­tomers across the Grampians, Wim­mera and Mallee.”

Mr Wil­liams said his award re­flected how Gwmwa­ter worked with and for its com­mu­ni­ties.

“All of what we’ve done has and is about se­cur­ing re­gional sup­ply, shoring up re­cre­ation wa­ter and gen­er­ally en­hanc­ing the live­abil­ity of the re­gion,” he said.

“I’ve had a very sup­port­ive board and a highly ca­pa­ble or­gan­i­sa­tion be­hind me.

“This award is re­ally recog­ni­tion for what Gwmwa­ter has done for the com­mu­nity.”
