Pitching in for festive cheer
Volunteers are calling for donations to help them provide a community Christmas lunch for isolated, lonely or homeless people.
Brett Heinrich said organisers were welcoming non-perishable food items as well as cash donations for the Horsham Uniting Church Christmas Lunch.
“We’re expecting more than 80 people to attend the lunch at the Uniting Church Hall on Christmas day,” he said.
“It’s not just for homeless people. It’s also for elderly people who might live on their own.
“We’re getting together to make Christmas a nice day for them. I went through a homeless stage of life a few years ago and it can be lonely and isolating. Now that I’m back on track I want to do as much as I can to help.”
Mr Heinrich said people could take packaged or tinned non-perishable food to Horsham Uniting Church or 5 Rodda Place, Horsham.
“What we can’t use on the day we will be give out to people for free. If anyone wants to donate money, they can do so through the church.”
Mr Heinrich said anyone seeking more information could get in touch with Horsham Uniting Church.
