Aero club upgrades

-

Member for Mallee Andrew Broad has used a visit to the Wimmera to confirm $8250 in Federal Government support for Horsham Aero Club.

Mr Broad, a pilot who often flies to events across his vast electorate, said the grant, from the government’s Stronger Communities Program, would go towards upgrading the clubrooms and kitchen.

The project plans to fully mouseproof the club kitchen and also involve maintenance throughout the building.

“It is so important that our community facilities remain in good working order,” Mr Broad said.

“It invites more events and functions and attracts more people to want to get involved.

“As many people know, I have a strong love of aviation and was very excited to put this project forward in Canberra under the stronger communities program.

“Anything that continues to foster this fantastic industry is always a great cause to advocate for.”

Horsham Aero Club’s building is more than 30 years old and has never had repairs despite its regular use for club meetings, CASA safety seminars and as an emergency centre when required for the Country Fire Authority.

“Congratulations to the aero club and to all members. I look forward to flying in and seeing the repairs underway very soon,” Mr Broad said.

The project is scheduled for completion in June 2019.
