More money for growing college
Students at Horsham’s Holy Trinity Lutheran College will benefit from a new junior school building after a $625,000 Federal Government grant.
Member for Mallee Andrew Broad visited the school on Monday to announce the government would provide the money towards the project through a capital grants program, a funding scheme for non-government schools.
Mr Broad said students and teachers thrive when their schools have modern and up-to-date facilities.
“This is especially the case in our regional areas,” he said.
“It is fantastic to see yet another one of our great local schools gain funding through this program.
“The Coalition government has committed $660-million until 2021, which provides funding for non-government schools to improve capital infrastructure.”
The project will include the construction of a junior school building with three learning areas, a collaborative multipurpose space and an outdoor area.
Mr Broad said the school’s prep building would also be refurbished to create five general learning areas, two support rooms and a staff room.
“I congratulate Holy Trinity Lutheran College for their successful grant and look forward to seeing the impact these improvements will have on our local students and in our community,” he said.
College principal Daniel Weller said the support from the government as well as the community was fantastic.
“We would not be able to do what we do without that support,” he said.
“We’re very grateful for the government’s funding to be able to build these buildings, particularly with our growth at this point in time.”
