St Marys sets the sustainable pace
St Marys Catholic Primary School at Warracknabeal is Resourcesmart Schools School of the Year for the region.
The school won the award during Resourcesmart Schools celebrations at Longerenong College.
It also won an energy-section DZDUG UDQNHG DV D ¿YH VWDU school – the highest ranking in WKH SURJUDP ± DQG ZLOO UHFHLYH a ‘special buddy’ bench from Replas made from recycled soft plastics – the material shoppers drop off at supermarkets.

Marnoo Primary School, with its 10 students working on the program for about four years and nearing a four-star rating, won a water category award.
St Arnaud Primary, a relaWLYHO\ QHZ VFKRRO WR WKH 566 SURJUDP DQG DOVR LQYROYHG LQ a Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program, won a waste category.
$ ELRGLYHUVLW\ FDWHJRU\ award went to Willaura Primary School, another new school that has also joined the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program.
The program promotes sustainability in all aspects of a school including operations, curriculum and community engagement.
