Plumbers’ title

-

Delahunty Plumbing has capped off a remarkable second half of Stawell Tennis Club Friday night competition with a premiership.

The team claimed the prize over early-season pacesetters Stawell Toyota.

As expected, Stawell Toyota had no answers to Delahunty Plumbing’s lower-tier men, with Seth Blake, Angus Williams and Blair Clayton doing as they pleased. All three recorded comfortable victories.

They were well supported by Amy Millar, Sam Ranton and Brian O’shannessy in the triumph.

Delahunty Plumbing jumped out of the EORFNV ZLWK D JDPH OHDG DIWHU WKH ¿UVW section of sets. While Stawell Toyota was competitive for the remainder of the night, it was unable to make any inroads into the margin, eventually going down 16 sets, 176 games to 12-157.

Molly Orr played a lone hand for Stawell Toyota, walking away with the Chris Tilley Memorial Award for best player in the grand ¿QDO DIWHU JLYLQJ DZD\ MXVW VL[ JDPHV IRU the night.

It was a disappointing end to a season that promised so much early for Stawell Toyota, which is now left to lick its wounds over the Christmas break.

But to the victor goes the spoils, and Delahunty Plumbing will enjoy the fruits of its labour over the summer.

,Q WKH XQGHUFDUG *UDPSLDQV -RLQHU\ ¿Q ished the season off on a high with a big win over Frewstal, 18-176 to 10-122 games.
