City requests artwork submissions
Members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community have an invitation to submit artwork to be included in Horsham Rural City Council’s Reconciliation Action Plan document.
The council’s Aboriginal Advisory Committee is about to finalise the Wimmera’s first reconciliation action plan and expects endorsement by Reconciliation Australia in the near future.
Council community wellbe- ing director Kevin O’brien said the artwork would be both for display and digital reproduction.
“We are seeking pieces of artwork to reflect our vision, which is to create an improved understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and future aspirations through fostering meaningful relationships within our communities,” he said.
“Aboriginal Advisory Committee members will present a shortlist of entries to the local indigenous community in February and the winner will then be decided by a vote by the community.”
People must submit artworks by January 18.
Enties can delivered to Mr O’brien in person at Horsham Civic Centre, by mail to PO Box 511, Horsham, 3402 or by email to Kevin.obrien@ hrcc.vic.gov.au.
