Ju­nior Coun­try Week un­der-15 cricket ac­tion kicked off in Hor­sham on Mon­day with eight rep­re­sen­ta­tive teams across two pools vy­ing to make the grand fi­nal.

Hor­sham Cricket As­so­ci­a­tion suf­fered a first-up de­feat to War­rnam­bool Blue at Hor­sham City Oval. The vis­i­tors ben­e­fited from 36 ex­tras, in­clud­ing 15 wides and 16 byes, as they barely man­aged to over­haul Hor­sham’s to­tal of 114 from 45 overs.

Wim­mera-mallee also lost, to War­rnam­bool Gold, dis­missed for 64 af­ter it was set a huge tar­get of 256.

Mount Gam­bier de­feated Co­lac Gold and Co­lac Black downed Port­land in other round one re­sults.

To­day, ac­tion will re­sume with Hor­sham tak­ing on Co­lac Black at Sun­ny­side, Wim­mera-mallee will meet Co­lac Gold at Hor­sham Com­mu­nity Sports Oval, War­rnam­bool Gold will take on Mount Gam­bier at Dim­boola and War­rnam­bool Blue will meet Port­land at Dud­ley Cor­nell Park. Fi­nals will start to­mor­row.
