Centre thanks family for donation

-

After years of planning and construction, Wimmera Cancer Centre was officially opened to the public at the weekend.

Among the community members to attend the opening of the new facility were Gwen Bourchier and her extended family, including children and grandchildren.

Mrs Bourchier made a large donation to help fund the construction of the cancer centre in memory of her late husband, Harry.

The centre responded by naming a section of the new facility after Harry and Gwen.

Mrs Bourchier’s daughter Janice Sudholz said it was great to see the contributions of her mother recognised.

“They spent all their lives in the Wimmera with the excep- tion of 10 years when they lived in Swan Hill,” she said.

“It’s beautiful, and we’re proud of what they were able to achieve in their working lives so that mum was in a position to make a donation.”

Mrs Sudholz said her mother had also contributed money to the construction of Goroke Community Health Centre.
