Emerson joins MAV board

Northern Grampians Shire Council’s Murray Emerson has joined the Municipal Association Victoria board.

Councillor Emerson, who represents Stawell Ward, will take up a Rural North West position on the board.

Regional MAV representatives elected him to the position.

The MAV is the major representative for local government, made up of 12 board members from across the state as well as a president.

The board’s responsibility is to oversee a strategic plan, as well as consider welfare, insurance, emergency services, arts, environment and more.

It also negotiates with federal and state governments.

Cr Emerson said he was honoured to join the board and looked forward to representing all shires, especially Rural North West municipalities.
