Youth parliament
Young people in the Wimmera-mallee aged between 16 and 25 can help shape the future of Victoria.
Applications for the 2019 youth parliament program are now open.
Nationals Member for Lowan Emma Kealy said youth parliamentarians could help influence Victorian law, policies, programs and services and encouraged young people from the region to apply.
“The YMCA Youth Parliament program provides young people with an insight into parliament and gives participants the opportunity to engage with the highest levels of government,” she said.
“It is a great opportunity to hear what the young people of today consider are major issues of concern. It is also an opportunity to put forward their ideas for possible solutions to those issues.”
The youth parliament program has operated since 1987. Participants in the 2019 program will attend an intensive training camp in May to prepare them by developing teamwork, public speaking and leadership skills. Applications close March 7.
