Call out for young leaders
Nominations are open for a 2019 Western Bulldogs Leadership Project, with Northern Grampians Shire Council offering 16 places to young people to participate in the program.
The council has invited students starting year nine this year to nominate.
The six-month program is designed to provide participants with hands-on opportunities to build capacity in leadership, teamwork, communication, goal setting, resilience and to grow as leaders in their community.
The sessions will be three weeks apart and alternate between St Arnaud and Stawell.
Northern Grampians Shire Council is one of 12 local government organisations taking part in the project.
Participation in the program is free and participants receive a complimentary program participant pack.
Stawell Ward councillor Karen Hyslop said it is a very popular program.
“Those who previously participated have spoken about how much they had grown throughout the process,” she said.
“I strongly recommend those interested to take a look and submit an application.”
The program offers a broad range of activities such as team-building challenges, mentoring from respected industry leaders, coaching courses, AFL and AFLW match visits and volunteer opportunities.
Structured curriculum provided by Victoria University guides the program.

Nominations close on February 28.
