Martin on a roll in Paris

Horsham teenage tenpin bowling sensation Sophie Martin was in the running late yesterday to play off for an internatio­nal medal.

The 16-year-old, competing at 2019 World Junior Bowling Championsh­ips in Paris, France, bowled her way into third position of a girls’ singles Squad A section.

She was awaiting results of a Squad B section to find out whether she had qualified for semi-finals.

After six qualifying games and in a field of 24 internatio­nal competitor­s she finished with 1316 points to fall behind section winner Victoria Kashirskay­a from Russia, 1360, and Isabel Allen of England, 1332.

She is in the national junior team alongside Amy Shoesmith, Cameron Stein and Nixon Chan.
