Putting in miles for better services
Seventeen cyclists will ride 525 kilometres to raise money for new treatment chairs at East Grampians Health Service Dialysis Unit.
East Grampians Health Service staff and community members will ‘hit the road’ on April 6, cycling from Swan Hill to Port Fairy for the 2019 Murray to Moyne Cycle Relay.
Team representatives said new treatment chairs would provide a greater level of comfort and ensure patients did not suffer any repercussions from extended periods of sitting.
The two teams, the Cranks and Defibrillators, set a target of $15,000 and have been training and fundraising for the event for the past few months.
Cranks’ team captain Alan Young applauded cyclists for their dedication in preparing for the relay.
“We have a great team this year, made up of experienced and new riders, but all have been putting in the miles and are looking forward to the relay,” he said.
“East Grampians Health Service has participated in Murray to Moyne for more than 25 years and in that time has raised thousands of dollars for new equipment for the health service.”
