City duo wins pairs tour­ney

A Hor­sham City club duo of Daniel Gloury and six-time club cham­pion Colin Mor­rell scored a home-club win at one of re­gional Vic­to­ria’s big­gest bowls tour­na­ments.

Af­ter play-offs and fi­nals, the pair won Hor­sham City Bowl­ing Club’s In­vi­ta­tion Four Bowl Pairs Sets Play Tour­na­ment, pock­et­ing $1200 in prize­money.

The two-day event at­tracted 84 bowlers from across the state who com­peted for a to­tal prize pool of $1350.

Mor­rell and skip­per Gloury found them­selves in an ex­cit­ing fi­nal against Bal­larat Vic­to­rian Bowl­ing Club Premier League player Scott Holling­worth, s, and Stu­art Hedger from Lara.

With the game at one set and one shot all in the tie-breaker, Gloury and Mor­rell scored a two to win the fi­nal.

Af­ter five games the other sec­tion win­ners who fought out the fi­nals were: Kevin Web­ster and An­drew Ross, Whit­tle­sea; Fred and Ben Zolj, Ru­pa­nyup; Gavin Wat­son and Ross Bar­nett, Hor­sham Sun­ny­side; Brian Hogan and Go­van Bellinger, Hopetoun-hor­sham City; Leif Hen­drick­son and Nick March­ment, War­rackn­abeal; Grant Kemp and Anthony King, Cough­lin Park-hor­sham City. Best last game win­ners were Zac Stephan and Marous Gregg, Nhill-hor­sham City.

Hor­sham City club pres­i­dent Ste­wart Landwehr said it was great to all greens full of bowlers dur­ing the two days.
