Youngsters drive caravan appeal
Organisers of Horsham’s Leisurefest Roadshow continue to watch as caravanning youngsters change buyer demographics at regional caravan and camping expos.
Horsham’s annual threeday-event, featuring caravans, campervans, accessories and kids’ entertainment, welcomed an ever-growing interest from budgeting young families at the weekend. Manager Jeff Leech said the event, which traditionally concerned ‘grey nomad’ buyers, was now appealing to younger generations.
“We’re starting to notice a change in who is buying caravans and campervans,” he said.
“The average price of a hotel, even in Horsham, is over $100 a night. So, more young people and families are travelling around Australia in caravans trying to save money.”
Mr Leech said Horsham’s successful event was one of many expos across the state experiencing the buying trend.
“This is a change that is happening everywhere,” he said.
