Horsham triathlete Ella Walsgott placed 22nd for intermediate females at the 2019 School Sport Australia National Championships in Queensland at the weekend.

The fifteen-year-old also took on duties as vice-captain of the Team Vic Triathlon Team.

Ella’s mother, Katie Walsgott, said Ella was determined to race, despite illness affecting her training and fitness at the event.

“At one stage her coach wasn’t sure she was fit to race,” she said.

“But you’ve got to draw positives. She was really happy with her swim time and had opportunity to enjoy vice-captain responsibilities. What she has learnt is just as important.”
