Mcdonald first awards nominee

Horsham tennis player Jess Mcdonald is the first nominee in line for the title of Horsham Sports and Community Club Wimmera Sports Star of the Year in 2020.

Mcdonald, 17, became the nominee for March after winning selection to represent Victoria at School Sport Australia Pizzey Cup in Adelaide this month.

She follows in the footsteps of sister Steffi Mcdonald who won selection in the under-18 state school team two years ago and now studies on a college scholarship in the United States of America.

As Sports Star of the Month, Mcdonald will receive a $50 gift-card from The Athlete’s Foot business in Horsham.

Overall winner of Wimmera Sports Star of the Year, announced at a gala dinner on February 14 next year, also receives the $1000 Sports Star scholarship.
