Waves seek pres­i­dent

Western Waves Cricket Re­gion is on the hunt for a new pres­i­dent af­ter long-serv­ing ad­min­is­tra­tor Kelvin White an­nounced his re­tire­ment.

Mr White spent 20 years at the helm of the Vic­to­rian Coun­try Cricket League’s re­gion two, now known as Western Waves Cricket Re­gion. The re­gion en­com­passes the Wim­mera, south­ern Mallee and Grampians ar­eas.

He be­came Vic­to­rian Coun­try Cricket League pres­i­dent last year, and said it was im­pos­si­ble to do both roles ef­fec­tively.

Mr White ac­knowl­edged the work of Cricket Vic­to­ria staff mem­ber Stephen Field in im­ple­ment­ing suc­cess­ful pro­grams through­out the re­gion dur­ing the past two decades, say­ing he was largely re­spon­si­ble for the progress made in western Vic­to­rian cricket.

“Stephen is now the coach­ing and tal­ent spe­cial­ist for the Waves, Bar­won and Cen­tral High­lands,” he said.

“New re­gion man­ager Tony Cac­caviello is fol­low­ing in Steve’s pos­i­tive foot­steps and, with the re­cent ad­di­tion of par­tic­i­pa­tion of­fi­cer Jason Elliott, the Waves are in good hands.”

Mr White will for­mally hand over the Waves pres­i­dency at the re­gion’s an­nual meet­ing on July 28, when all po­si­tions will be de­clared va­cant.
