Mamma Mia anticipation building

-

Lisa Thomas will play Donna Sheridan, a fiercely independent, hard-working single mother and former lead singer of Donna and the Dynamos.

Now the owner of a hotel on a secluded Greek island, Lisa’s character will be surprised – to say the least – when three men from her past check in to her hotel on the eve of her daughter’s wedding.

Mamma Mia will be Lisa’s seventh show but only her second time on stage, as she was previously a vocal or music director.

She said she was inspired by the movie and encouraged to ‘have a go’ by her own ‘Sophie’.

She was confident audiences would love the show’s energy and music, and ‘leave the theatre on a high and with a smile’. Bella Patterson will play a ‘sweet and free-spirited’ Sophie Sheridan.

Sophie is a dreamer who longs to discover her father’s identity, and invites three men from her mother’s past back to an island they last visited 21 years ago to figure it out.

Bella said she felt ‘so lucky’ to have an opportunity to play Sophie in Horsham Arts Council’s production of Mamma Mia.

The musical will be Bella’s fourth show with the council, and her first lead role.

She said she was excited to see audiences get involved because ‘ABBA has a way to make everyone move.’ Loucas Vettos will play Sky, Sophie’s fiancé who left London’s Stock Exchange to see the world, only to discover a charming secluded Greek Island and find his soulmate.

Loucas has been involved in Horsham Arts Council since 2003 and said he was thrilled to be part of its production of Mamma Mia.

He said he enjoyed ‘dancing up a storm’ with his friends on and off stage and was blown away by the support from the Wimmera, with three sold-out shows and the remaining six heavily booked.

“If you haven’t got your tickets you’re a silly Sally,” he said.

“Don’t miss out on the event of the year.” yet,
