Charity day on again
An East Grampians Health Service Charity Golf Day on October 13 will again feature a fun runwalk around picturesque Chalambar Golf Course in Ararat.
As well as a three-person ambrose event, where participants have an opportunity to win a car for a hole-in-one on the 18th hole, the charity day will again feature a six-kilometre run and three-kilometre walk.
ACE Radio, Kings Cars, Brian Thomas Electrical and V/line have again come on board as major sponsors, with many other businesses offering sponsorship and raffle prizes.
This year’s charity event is raising money for a pain-relief administering pump, a replacement for ageing equipment that will benefit both theatre and midwifery patients at East Grampians Health Service.
Kings Cars’ Michael Smith encouraged golfers across the region to enter a team and raise money for the health service.
“We are pleased to again partner with the health service as a major sponsor,” he said.
“We would love to see as many golfers as possible attend to try to win the car.”
Stawell and Ararat Cross Country Club president Peter Gibson said people of all abilities could participate in the fun run event, whether in the run or shorter walk.
“The fun run and walk will be a great opportunity see parts of the golf course you normally don’t get to see,” he said. “It is for everyone, whatever their abilities, with prams and children of all ages welcome to participate.”
Entry for the three-person ambrose is $90 per person, including a barbecue lunch, afternoon tea and a free raffle ticket.
Entry for the fun run-walk is $15 per adult and $5 per child under 14. Entry includes a bottle of water, fruit and free ticket in a lucky draw.
Entry forms are available from Chalambar Golf Club, phone 5352 4297, and entries close on October 7.
The fun run-walk will start at 10am, with registration from 9.30am and the golf will hit off with a shotgun start at noon, with registration from 11.30am.
