Gardens contribute $14,000

-

Wimmera Hospice Care Auxiliary will use $14,000 raised at the weekend’s Gardens of Haven event to help the region’s palliative care patients.

Auxiliary project co-ordinator Lea Crammond said Sunday’s event ‘far outweighed our wildest dreams’.

“We raised a massive $14,000,” she said.

“Needless to say we are all exhausted and positively thrilled.

“The members put in a massive effort and I’m amazed at just how hard this auxiliary works.”

Gardens of Haven was the auxiliary’s first event in a long time, with fundraising efforts heavily hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mrs Crammond thanked participating gardeners John and Pam Penny, Paul and Noelene Kelly, Fred and Robyn Simpson, Jennie and Doug Mitchell, Alison and Wayne Adams, Di and Don Cook and Fi and Jeremy White.

“We thank them all from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us the privilege of visiting their beautiful space,” she said.

Mrs Crammond said the auxiliary also hosted a successful plant stall and raffle at Haven Hall, along with afternoon tea, which ‘had the kitchen ladies run off their feet’.

“It was a joy to be able to run this event and see the community and visitors having a happy day socialising,” she said.
