Invitation to guide arts direction

-

Horsham district community has an opportunity to help shape the direction of artistic culture as the region starts to emerge from pandemic restrictions.

Regional Arts Victoria is inviting the Horsham public to take part in a series of community ‘conversations’ about areas of interest and expertise involving the arts at Horsham Town Hall between November 9 and 11.

Horsham Rural City Council creative services and events leader Shana Miatke said she was excited to host a series of discussions.

“These discussions will provide the community an opportunity to meet in person to discuss ideas and opportunities that will help inform the development of Horsham Rural City Council’s new Creative Horsham Plan,” she said.

Regional Arts Victoria, apart from being Victoria’s peak regional arts body, is also providing consultation services for the plan.

It will use its resources to provide a range of guest speakers for the community gatherings.

Regional Arts Victoria, RAV, executive director Joe Toohey said the format of the conversations would be based on specific focus areas with support from experts.

“It’s an excellent opportunity to re-connect, network and get creative around a common theme,” he said.

“Confirmed speakers include guests from the Wall-to-wall Festival at Benalla, Multicultural Arts Victoria, Writers Victoria, Music Victoria, Arts Access Victoria, The Push, Creative Victoria and Theatre Network Australia, with more to be announced.”

RAV staff members will also join the Horsham sessions in person, with guests dialling-in from across the country to guide each conversation.
